About the Indiana Hoosier Lottery

Indiana’s official state lottery goes under the name Hoosier Lottery. Since holding its first draw back in 1990, the IN Lottery has paid more than $14 billion to lucky winners and raised over $6 billion for various state programs. These funds are allocated across several beneficiaries, including police and firefighters’ pensions, teachers’ retirement funds, and the Lottery Surplus Fund.

Indiana Hoosier Lottery Rules

The following rules apply to all participating in the Hoosier Lottery draws:

  • Players must be at least 18 years old to purchase Hoosier Lottery tickets.
  • Players can buy tickets at any of the licensed lottery retailers in the state.
  • Players must sign and complete the information on the back of their winning tickets.
  • Players must not resell or tamper with the tickets.
  • Players are responsible for all lost or stolen tickets.
  • Players who have won must claim their prizes within 180 days of the draw date/game end date.

Indiana Hoosier Lottery Tickets

You can buy the Hoosier Lottery tickets at one of Indiana’s retail locations. To find the ones nearby, you can use Indiana’s state lottery official website or mobile app. Winners will have 180 days after the draw date, or game end date, in which to redeem their prizes.

Can I buy IN tickets online?

No, you can’t. You must visit one of the land-based retailers to buy IN Lottery tickets.

Indiana Hoosier Lottery Games and Drawing Schedules

Powerball

Those looking for a draw game with a progressive jackpot can try their hand at the popular Powerball. The rules require that players choose five numbers from 1 to 69 and one Powerball number from 1 to 26. You can multiply your non-jackpot prize with Power Play mode or enter the second draw with Double Play mode. Each play is $2, and draws are held on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. EST.

Mega Millions

Mega Millions is another multi-state game that can bag you a rolling jackpot. Here, you’ll need to pick five numbers from 1 to 70 and one Mega Ball number from 1 to 25. You can play the same combination of numbers multiple times with Multi-Draw, increase your non-jackpot prize with Megaplier, or receive two additional sets of numbers for more shots at the jackpot prize with Just the Jackpot feature. Each play is $2, and the numbers are drawn every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. EST.

Hoosier Lotto

For just $2 per play, you can participate in Indiana’s version of Lotto and win an amazing jackpot that starts at $1 million. To play, you’ll have to choose six numbers between 1 and 46. The Multi-Draw feature lets you enter up to 10 consecutive draws, while +Plus grants you a chance to win an additional million if you match the +Plus winning numbers. Draws take place every Wednesday and Saturday around 11 p.m. EST.

Cash 5

You can win a jackpot that starts at $70,000 and grows with every new draw. All you have to do is follow the simple Cash 5 rules and select five numbers between 1 and 45 for a dollar per play. The game allows players to use the same numbers in up to 28 consecutive draws or add EZmatch to get a chance to win $500 instantly. Draws occur every day at around 11 p.m. EST.

Daily 3

The IN Lottery’s Daily 3 provides you with two chances to score a prize every day. To participate, you have to select three digits between 0 and 9, a wager amount, and bet type. Six bet types are available:

  • Straight — With this playstyle, you have to match the winning numbers in the exact order.
  • Box — This bet type allows you to match the numbers in any order.
  • 1-Off — Here, the numbers you’ve selected must be one digit higher or one digit lower than the winning numbers.
  • Combo — You can match the drawn number either in the exact or any order with this play.
  • Wheel — If you opt for this playstyle, you can place a Straight bet on any combination of numbers selected.
  • Front/Back Pair — As the name suggests, you must match the first two or last two digits of the drawn numbers in the exact order.

In addition, you can use the Superball mode to replace any of the digits in your number combination and get another shot at winning. However, this mode does not apply to the 1-Off bet type. Draws take place twice a day, at around 1:20 p.m. and around 11 p.m. EST.

Daily 4

This game follows the Indiana Lottery Daily 3 rules, but with one exception: you have to choose four numbers from 0 to 9 on your playslip. The draws are broadcast at the same time, as well.

Quick Draw

To play Quick Draw, choose the amount you’d like to wager, the drawing time, and ten numbers out of the 80 on each board. In each draw, you need to match at least five out of 20 numbers drawn. Indiana lottery Prizes vary depending on the amount wagered.

If you add Bulls-Eye or EZmatch to your ticket, for a dollar more per play, you can win up to $200,000 more or up to $500 instantly. Each play is just a dollar, and draws occur daily, at around 1:20 p.m. or 11 p.m. EST.

Cash4Life

A $1 Cash4Life ticket can treat you to a “lifetime” prize like no other. You can receive the prize in annuities for the rest of your life ($1,000 a day for the top prize or $1,000 a week for the secondary prize). To participate, pick six numbers from 1 to 60 and a Cash Ball number from 1 to 4. The more numbers you match, the bigger the prize. Wait for the draw every day at around 9 p.m. EST.

How to Claim a Lottery Prize in Indiana

Hoosier Lottery winners can redeem their Indiana lottery prizes in different ways depending on the amount won:

  1. If you’ve won a prize under $600, you can claim it at Indiana Lottery retailers or via mail. Winners who prefer receiving their prize in person should check the redemption capabilities and policies of the retailers before going.
  2. If your prize is worth from $600 to $49,999, you can redeem it at one of the Hoosier Lottery Prize Payment Centers in Indianapolis, Mishawaka, or Evansville, or via mail.
  3. If you’ve won over $50,000, you need to contact the lottery by phone (1-800-955-6886) and schedule an appointment to claim your reward.

Those mailing their claims can do so by following these steps:

  1. Complete the information and sign the back of your winning ticket.
  2. Print and fill out the winner’s claim form.
  3. Fill in the IRS FORM 5754 (if there are more people claiming the prize).
  4. Make a copy of the winner’s claim form and the front and back of your winning ticket for your own records.
  5. Make a copy of your government-issued photo ID (if your prize is worth more than $600).
  6. Staple the copy of your ID and the original winning ticket to your claim form and mail them to the Hoosier Lottery Headquarters.
  7. Mail via UPS, FedEx, or USPS Certified if your prize is valued at more than $599.

You can enter by using your eligible non-winning $1 Holiday Cheer, $2 Holiday Cash, and $5 Holiday Bonus scratch-offs. Depending on the ticket price — $1, $2, or $5 — you’ll get one, two, or five entries. At the end of the promo period, five winners will receive $5,000 each.
  • Golden Ticket promotion — You have until April 4 to take advantage of this promotion. To enter, you can use your non-winning $5 Golden scratch-offs. Seven winners will receive valuable Indiana lottery prizes at the end of the promo period, with the top prize being a trip to Las Vegas.
